DO YOU HAVE PHOTO TIPS FOR MY PORTRAIT SESSION OR WEDDING DAY

Yes! Please download the PDF's below! :)

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? DO YOU TRAVEL?

We are located out of Asheville, North Carolina but we travel often to Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and out of the country! We are orginially from Tampa, Florida, but have pursued our dream to move to Asheville. We aren't afraid to travel and love photographing in new places! We will even take a hike and go on an adventure!

DO I HAVE PERMISSION TO PRINT THE PHOTOS? CAN I USE THEM ONLINE?

With each of our sessions, we release all printing rights to you after you have paid us in full. This allows you to print the images at any photo lab of your choice and use the images online! You may not however – sell, edit, or advertise the images in any way. We also ask that if you post your images online (such as on Facebook) – that you please mention our page, "JCM PHOTOGRAPHY-ASHEVILLE" below or beside the image. We ask when posting on Instagram please DO NOT use a filter on our images.

WHAT ARE THE "BASIC" EDITS YOU INCLUDE WITH YOUR SHOOTS?

Typically, we include basic edits to your photos in all the shoots we do. Basic edits include adjusting exposure, brightness, contrast, color, and cropping. Anything outside of this would be considered an advanced edit. We can do advanced editing, but this will come at an additional cost.

HOW SOON WILL I GET THE PHOTOS?

For weddings our turn around time is a maximum of 6 weeks.  We usually try to deliver your final gallery within 2-3 weeks throughout most of the year.  Peak season turnaround time (May, June, September, October) is usually 3-6 weeks due to the volume of couples we serve.

Will I RECIEVE A SNEAK PEEK OR A PREVIEW?

While we do generally post sneak peeks and previews, this is not something we guarantee, especially during peak season.  With our sneak peeks/previews that we do post, they will generally be within a few days to a week after your wedding during the offseason, 1-2 weeks during regular season, and 2-4 weeks during peak season.  With our process, especially during peak season, oftentimes we will just focus on delivering all your images via your final gallery vs trying to separate it out and do a sneak peek, we find this process to be more efficient overall.

WILL I ALSO GET THE RAW/UNEDITED IMAGES?

One of the reasons we've been so blessed with our success is because we deliver a high quality final product with our special touch!  Just as a you wouldn't expect a restaurant to give you a half baked pizza, or Ford to sell you an F-150 without nuts and bolts, we also will not provide you with images that are unfinished.

WHAT IF I WANT THE RAW/UNEDITED IMAGES?

Please refer to previous question.

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

Canon 5D Mark IV's, various Canon and Sigma lenses, 600 EX RT II Speedlites, Godox AD200's, MacBook Pros, Photoshop, Lightroom, PASS, and other lighting equipment.

SHOULD WE ALL WEAR MATCHING OUTFITS FOR OUR SESSION?

You do not have to match perfectly, but complimentary colors and prints do look better in group/family shots. If you need ideas, please look at our albums or just ask!

DO YOU HAVE A BACK-UP CAMERA & LENSES?

YES! We have not only many backup camera bodies and flashes but a wide assortment of different lenses as well.

HOW LONG DOES THE TYPICAL PORTRAIT SESSION LAST?

We typically like to schedule 1 hour sessions, this allows for us to wander around to different sites and also try different poses/outfits.

DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?

No, but we can travel to indoor locations and shoot, such as your home. We have indoor lighting equipment and flashes to help deal with the dim lighting.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO SHOOT OUTDOORS?

GREAT QUESTION!!! It is best to shoot in the morning and evening, when the sun is going up or down. Mid-day will lead to harsh shadows, dull colors, and squinting. A cloudy day is actually perfect for shooting photographs!

I LOVE YOUR WORK! HOW DO I RESERVE YOU TO PHOTOGRAPH MY WEDDING?

Once we receive a signed copy of your wedding contract and a deposit (which is a non-refundable retainer) – the date is saved. Please note that email inquiries do not guarantee any client to a particular date. It is not unusual for us to receive two inquiries for most dates during wedding season, and therefore the date remains open until a contract is signed and deposit is paid.

WHY DO YOU HAVE A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER FOR SHOOTS?

My husband and I are dynamic team who not only take awesome shots together, but we also make you feel like you are family. Having a second photographer also gives you another creative eye to capture your special day.  We can be in 2 places at 1 time meaning more angles, moments, and memories!

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD WE SET ASIDE ON OUR WEDDING DAY FOR PORTRAITS?

We recommend about 30 minutes to take pictures of just the two of you. This does not include the time needed for formal portraits of the family and bridal party.  This allows us to get those special shots you will remember forever.

ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS – WHY SHOULD WE SCHEDULE ONE?

Engagement sessions are the perfect way to get comfortable with us before your wedding day and get some great photos for your invitations! They make great natural photos for you to have for your scrapbook or album for your wedding day as well.

DO YOU OFFER PRODUCTS SUCH AS CANVAS PRINTS, COFFEE TABLE BOOKS, AND ALBUMS?

YES WE DO! We work with professional printers/vendors in the industry to bring you the best quality there is to offer!
