It’s that time of the year where things finally start to slow down (a little bit) and we get a chance to spend time with friends & family, and of course, reminisce on so many of the amazing moments we were blessed to be a part of throughout the year. One couple we were so fortunate to connect with in 2025 was Caitlin and Cauley! Sometimes you meet a couple and there’s that instant feeling where you felt like you’ve known them for years. That would be these two! Caitlin and Cauley are such warm and kind spirits, and we think that anyone would be privileged to know them. Naturally with couples like this, there’s a tendency to absolutely crush it when it comes to their photos and these two hit the ground running when we first met them for their engagement here in Western North Carolina! Unlike a lot of our engagement sessions where we pick one of the beautiful spots our region is known for, Caitlin let us know ahead of time they wanted to shoot on their family’s private property. After describing it, we knew this was a place we couldn’t wait to see in person. Plus we had to do some pretty intense off-roading to get there, so bonus fun. When we arrived at the summit of their property it wasn’t quite like described. It was better! We were so blown away with the beauty of this land and the long distance views, that we both barreled through a few cow patties as we walked around aimlessly soaking it all in. All in good fun. After taking it all in, naturally we had to ask Cauley about the property and as he told us more and more about it, we could see why this was such a special place for him and Caitlin. It was the perfect spot for their engagement photos and anyone who gets the chance to visit this place with them should consider themselves lucky.

Needless to say, we could hardly wait for their wedding day to arrive in late November! As if their engagement location wasn’t enough, they were celebrating their big day at our favorite wedding venue in NC, The Parker Mill! If uninterrupted mountain views are your thing, you’re hard pressed to find a better wedding venue in the southeast! Like many of our weddings, our favorite part of their wedding day was their first look. Caitlin and Cauley also decided to say their vows privately before the ceremony and as a photographer, we always feel incredibly privileged to be apart of this moment. It’s about the one time a lot of couples can be vulnerable without the added pressure of dozens (or hundreds) of eyes watching. We love these little moments where we just get to be a fly on the wall watching someone’s love story unfold. It was one we are grateful to have been apart of, and a special story we’d love to share. We hope you enjoy!

In Pips NYT, I solved the puzzle mentally before placing the pieces. Executing it on the grid exposed a flaw in my plan.
