I still remember getting the initial inquiry for Amber and Logan’s big day. If there was ever a sales pitch for hooking a wedding photographer, they definitely mastered the art. They told us they were getting married at the iconic Pretty Place Chapel. Afterwards they wanted to have us hang with them all day in downtown Asheville floating around to some of their favorite breweries and spots. If that wasn’t enough, they threw in the words stress free and laid back (sold! lol). Essentially this would’ve been a fun day even without a wedding. Throw in a little romance to boot and we were ready to rock it with these two. We were pumped to finally meet them for their mountain engagement and the vibe we got via email, was the vibe we that epitomized these two in person. Laid back, fun, and if we’re being honest, super cute! After rocking their engagement session and finally getting to connect with these two, we were even more excited for their wedding day!
By the time their big day arrived, the plan changed just a little bit. Instead of hitting downtown, we were going to be heading to Highland Brewing Company for their reception. A popular Asheville wedding venue in it’s own right, and a must go if you’re in the area and dig craft beer. Quick plug for HBC, if you ever get a chance to visit, our personal favs are Cold Mountain and The Gaelic Ale. Since Amber and Logan were having a smaller wedding with close family, it was easy enough to just hang as a group and not need reservations or anything special. What we didn’t realize was their wedding date just happened to coincide with a local beeriest they were hosting at Highland Brewing Co. This ended up adding some festive fun to the mix and by far one of our favorite parts of the day was when Amber and Logan entered the best dressed contest. Naturally most of the entries were sporting a more traditional german beer fest/bavarian outfit, but when the moment presented itself, they figured what the heck? They ended up tying for first with a sweet couple who was celebrating their wedding anniversary. The odds of that had to be ridiculously slim and it absolutely blew us all away! It added a fun little memory that I’m sure they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. It was just that kind of day and one of our favorites from 2023.
