Brown Mountain Beach Resort Wedding: Megan + Michael

We recently had the pleasure of capturing Megan and Michael’s beautiful wedding at Brown Mountain Beach Resort in Collettsville, NC, just about an hour outside of Asheville. It was our first time getting to visit Brown Mountain Beach Resort and we must say, with the combination of having such a unique and beautiful venue as well as a sweet couple like Megan & Michael, it was simply awesome!

We first met Megan back in early 2016. We all sat at Filo Coffee & Wine bar getting to know each other and getting down her vision for the wedding! We didn’t get an opportunity to meet Michael that day, but to hear Megan talk about him and see the way she would light up when she did, we knew he was an amazing fiancé! Fast forward to September and it was time for their engagement session at Graveyard fields, just off the Bluer Ridge parkway heading east about an hour outside of town. It was a perfect day in terms of weather and lighting and as we explored the beautiful terrain, Megan & Michael put their love on display! Side note: if you’ve never been to Graveyard Fields or are still trying to find a good place for your special photos, this little spot is perfect if you are looking for a little hideaway that opens up to shallow streams as well as different waterfall/river options along the way and the hike itself isn’t too bad!

After getting to spend the evening with Michael and Megan and seeing their connection, we knew we would be in for a special wedding day! On top of being super excited to work with them again, it’s always fun for us getting to visit wedding venues we’ve never been to before! Having done some googling on Brown Mountain Beach resort, we knew there would be some beautiful spots for photos!

As we often do with out of town weddings at venues we’ve never been to before, we tried to arrive early and get the lay of the land as well as get all of our equipment set up and tucked away. The forecast was calling for all day rain, but we were blessed with a hazy mist that never really formed into that heavy rain, not to mention it set the scene for some beautiful backdrops and soft lighting throughout the day. The layout at Brown Mountain Beach Resort was definitely one of our favorites to date! There was plenty of open space surrounded by the natural color and beauty of the trees and colorful gardens. The décor itself outside and inside was full of such character!

After getting settled in, Jenny went with the ladies to capture their getting ready photos and of course this fun bunch made our day entertaining from beginning to end! Michael and his groomsmen had moved with the utmost efficiency and were already ready! Michael really took charge of the day to help out with coordinating all the guests and making sure everyone was where they needed to be! Of course he wasn’t too busy to let me squeeze in a couple of groom shots, but it was hanging out with the fellas before the ceremony to relax a bit after that!

Initially the ceremony was going to take place outside on the actual beach area near the river but due to some mist that day, last minute they decided to move everything inside. The ceremony site indoors was beautifully lit by the natural light shining through the windows and the intimate ceremony soon began.

Megan and Michael said their I dos soon after and it was on to celebrate with family and friends! For us it’s always fun to capture the candid moments taking place with the wedding party and guest throughout the day but the real highlight of the day for us was when Megan let us know she wanted to trash her dress that day and get into the water (ummm yes please!). After scouting a couple of different spots, it was off to get that wedding dress wet! As excited as we were to capture so unique bridal of Megan on her special day, I don’t anybody as quite as excited as she was!

Shortly after our day came to end but not before we spent more time getting to know Megan and Michael’s closest friends and loved ones, even a few fur babies! Our first time visiting Brown Mountain Beach Resort was amazing and we can hardly wait for the opportunity to go back! On top of being a beautiful wedding venue, we were blessed and fortunate to spend the day with Megan and Michael!

Thanks as always for following along!!!
