Beautiful wedding day at The Ridge: Marissa + Burel

Almost one year ago to the date, we had the privilege of meeting with one of the coolest most down to earth couples we can remember, Marissa & Burel. We previously connected via phone call as they were planing their Asheville wedding from afar, but this special day would be the day we really got to know them as a couple and document their engagement session. From the get go they were so at ease and comfortable with each other, it made their engagement a breeze! As we adventured around the Dupont State Forrest to pull in some of the beautiful scenery, these two were effortless in their love and connection with each other and it truly showed in just about every capture.

After that first meeting and getting to spend time with them, we knew their wedding was going to be special! We were anticipating the good vibes & fun loving nature of these two to pick up right where they left off and they absolutely did to say the least.

Their wedding was set at one of the new venues in the Asheville area, The Ridge. As excited as we were to work with Marissa & Burel again, we were also excited to visit The Ridge for the first time. As you’ll soon see, it’s unique location allows for beautiful long range mountain views with all the comforts of home and a ceremony site that is simply breathtaking. Another one of the reasons this wedding and overall experience was so near and dear to us is we love having a more photojournalistic approach throughout a wedding day. Marissa and Burel wanted this approach and with the exception of a few couples, bridal party, and family portraits, we were free to roam and document their special day as we wanted, with no staging or interruption. To them, this day was as much about those loved ones around them as it was them and they wanted that to reflect in their photos, truly allowing us to take a more documentary style approach to their wedding day!
