This past May two of our best friends Alex and Becky tied the knot at The Barn at Tall Oaks! This wedding was special so special to us because unlike a lot of our couples where we shoot their engagement & wedding and become friends throughout the process, Alex and Becky were two of the first friends we made when we moved to Asheville! Back when we moved to town and we still had day jobs to keep a roof over our heads, Jenny connected with Becky one day while slinging some shirts at MTN Merch in Biltmore Village, and as fate would have it, she found out that Becky’s boyfriend Alex worked at the jail, where my day job was at the time (small world!). In the past few years we’ve shared a lot of brews, a lot of laughs, and made a lot of memories, a lot of which include Becky and Alex!
When their big day finally arrived we were so pumped! Besides being excited to be a part of their celebration, we were also looking forward to visiting The Barn at Tall Oaks for the first time. The venue is a purpose built barn style event center and the surrounding 15 Acres offer plenty of room and scenery for gorgeous photos! With its exposed beams and plentiful window light, it also has plenty of charming rustic character inside as well!
Much like the mountain weather this summer, it was looking like their wedding day might be a bit of a wash out in the beginning of the day, but thankfully mother nature had other plans! Becky and Alex did end up moving their ceremony inside just in case but with the aforementioned design, it made for a perfect setting! Much of the rest of this celebration was spent outside enjoying the beautiful property! Jack’s 47 kept everyone hydrated while friends and family enjoyed corn hole and catching up with loved ones they hadn’t seen in quite some time!
True to Alex and Becky’s fun nature, their reception saw a healthy mix of craft beer and straight shenanigans. That definitely includes the little chip-n-dale rendition by the groomsmen (LOL…well played fellas).
Another fun fact about Alex and Becky’s wedding is it was featured in the inaugural issue of North Carolina Bridal Magazine! Click here to see more! We call them friends but these two are truly family and getting to be a part of their union was something we had been looking forward to and a day we won’t soon forget!
Special thanks to all of the awesome wedding vendors!!
