Black Balsam Knob Engagement: T + J

Updated: Feb 21

double exposure of a couple and the sunrise

With all of the extra time on our hands these last few weeks, we’ve been focusing on putting effort into where we can and naturally blogs have been one of our favorite things to dive into! As we looked back over this past year’s weddings and engagements, I was shocked to realize we have not already featured the following session! It was easily one of our favorite engagement shoots from last year! Meet Thea and Jack! These cuties spent last summer in Asheville while Jack was working on finishing up his MBA at UNC and working at an internship! Thea explained that they had also visited our beautiful area a few times on vacation and loved it! Conveniently what better place to capture some epic engagement photos!? As is sometimes the case, they had a good problem. That problem was narrowing down exactly where they wanted to do their engagement session. Asheville and the surrounding areas have so many beautiful locations that it can be hard to pick just one. Lucky for us, Thea and Jack went with two! They wanted the beautiful mountain views that area region is known for but they also wanted to incorporate a waterfall! After some planning, we decided heading up to Black Balsam Knob and then sliding over to Graveyard Fields Falls would be the best option. Did we mention how big of troopers these two were? We initially talked about doing everything around golden hour and sunset, but due to the forecasted weather, we decided it would be best to move everything to sunrise. Even with a 4am wake up time on our end, (probably earlier on their end…ya know hair and make up!?) they didn’t hesitate for a second! Looking back it definitely feels meant to be because that morning sky was heavenly! The golden glow and color were hard to beat. In fact, just our opinion but we swear sunrises in this area are so much more vibrant than the sunsets on any given day, which makes the early wake up time so worth it! They put their playful chemistry on display and absolutely rocked their engagement session while taking in some of the beauty that WNC has to offer! We hope you enjoy following along, and for more amazing engagement locations near Asheville, click here!
